Addis in Cape

Addis in Cape, situated in a quaint old building on 41 Church Street that overlooks Cape Town's famous Long Street, is a perfect venue for special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate functions and other group gatherings. The restaurant can accommodate over 100 guests at a time in a traditional, yet beautiful and relaxing setting.

For locals, or people just traveling through Cape Town on holiday or on business, dining at Addis in Cape gives you an extraordinary opportunity to experience another African culture while in South Africa. The commitment to excellent service, authentic cuisine and unbeatable ambience amount to an opportunity not to be missed.

Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its rich aromas and generous use of herbs and spices. The country was historically situated on trading routes that included the trade of many exotic spices, this history has had a tremendous influence on the taste of Ethiopian food as we know it.

Today most of the herbs and spices are blended and prepared in the home with great love and attention, as are those used in Addis in Cape. The dishes that you taste here are unique to Ethiopia, and they are proud as a restaurant to share them with you. All their food is prepared by their two talented Ethiopian chefs who strive to bring the taste of their homeland to you.

To this end, your food is presented in a beautifully woven basket-like table called a Mesob. The dishes you order are served together on a large plate which is layered with a pancake-like sourdough base called Injera. Without utensils your hands and Injera are used to scoop the various flavourful stews and sauces. This delightful mosaic of food is shared in a warm and communal manner
