The Cultural Historical Museum in Albertinia portrays the history of the town and environment by giving the visitor a deeper insight to the earlier lives of the people and the progress made over the years.
The Albertinia Museum is a private museum. The doors were opened the 30th April 2004 due to a group of loyal and dedicated people in the town, realizing that unless steps were taken, the community would lose whatever historical cultural treasures they had left.
There are many local products on display in the museums like thatch reed. This has been used for centuries to thatch local abodes. The first commericial use of thatch reed was when Groot Constantia was damaged in a fire in 1920 and Albertinia had the honour of supplying thatch for its new roof.
Aloes have been cut and drained for its bitter juice since the second half of the 18th century. It was only after the first aloe factory was built in 1986 and later years a second factory, that the aloe products were locally manufactured. it was then when Albertinia became known as "The home of the Aloe".
