AmaZink Eatery at the Ikhaya Trust Centre is an initiative of a larger project to unlock tourism potential in Khayamandi. The restaurant overlooks the centre’s amphitheater with a stunning view of the surrounding Stellenbosch mountains. Restaurant patrons dine on high quality and truly South African cuisine in a uniquely South African setting.
The eatery not only caters for local Khayamandi residents, but welcomes tourists and Stellenbosch locals alike.The eatery manager is Loyiso Mbambo, fondly known by most in the Khayamandi community as “Roots”. Born in Khayamandi, he lived with his aunt from the age of seven when his own parents could no longer take care of him. He learned the fundamentals of South African cooking - more specifically, Xhosa cuisine - from his aunt.
AmaZink serves up traditional South African food with a fresh, contemporary flair. Roots takes his work seriously, treating food as a delicious mode for conveying the richness and vitality of the South African.
