The house once occupied by C. J. Langenhoven, a lawyer who came to Oudtshoorn in 1899 and composed the South African national anthem here, is now a museum.
Arbeidsgenot is the home of C.J. Langenhoven. Between the four walls of Arbeidsgenot lies years of remebrance of C.J. Langenhoven, the father of the Afrikaans language. In his study, Langenhoven passed away, but he lives forth as a legend inall his written Afrikaans books.
His house is a National Memorial and every room tells a story of who Langenhoven was, his character and his works.
