
Guy Wood opened Bean Bag Bohemia in 1995 as a Café Bar and Restaurant. It comprises a two storey National Monument building, built in 1885, and an open courtyard area with alfresco dining.
The restaurant has grown over the last ten years to become a nationally known institution. It has strong ties with the arts, creative industries and politics. It has become home to the many interesting and trend setting people of Durban and is always on the list for any out of town visitor to Durban
The downstairs area is a café bar area which is busiest as a lunch venue and then later in the night for after show drinks, light meals and parties. It hosts many art exhibition, bands and launches and has become a landmark in Durban’s creative industries meeting and melting pot.
The Upstairs floor houses an Upmarket restaurant with a balcony area.The menu upstairs is a cosmopolitan mix of flavours of the world, whose menu is designed and steered by Chef Brendan Newport, who is a partner in the business.
Their food and local vibe is celebrated, and has become renowned for being truly unique and the restaurant now has an off shoot business called BBB concept chefs, which does product launches, corporate gigs and openings of companies and Private game lodges.
