Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the well known Swartberg Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations.
The Cango Caves have been at the forefront of tourism in South Africa since the end of the 18th century. The first to be protected by environmental legislation and the first to employ a full-time tourist guide, they remain South Africa's oldest tourist attraction. The Cango Caves is the only show cave in Africa which offers a choice of Standard (easy) or Adventure Tours.
All tours are lead by experienced, knowledgeable and accredited Caves Guides. All tours are offered in English, but Afrikaans, German, French and other language guide may be available.
They also have a Cango Caves Restaurant that offers quality service and excellent, freshly-prepared meals which highlights the distinctive flavours of the Little Karoo.
The Kraal Kraft gallery - on the 2nd floor of the Visitor Centre - sells African gifts and collectables: music, fine art, originally crafted artefacts and gemstones as well as a wide variety of travel books and literature on Southern Africa.
The Interpretive Centre, the cinema-style Cango Caves Auditorium, screens a 19 minute film about a recent expedition into the Wonder Cave. The film runs on a continuous loop and may be viewed free-of-charge during Cave opening times.
The Interpretive centre has been scientifically designed to explain the Caves - and particularly their geology and history.
Opening hours are 09:00 - 16:00
