Ceres in the Western Cape is home to a new zip slide tour, featuring eight slides totalling 1,4km.
Located within the Skurweberge Mountains, Ceres Zip Slide Tours is an hour and a half’s drive from Cape Town. The slides vary in length, from 110m to 290m, with the highest point 40m above ground level.
Guests are kitted in full body harnesses by two fully trained guides who accompany them in silent, battery-operated carts into the mountain. A short walk takes guests to the departure point at the first slide, with views stretching over the town of Ceres and across the valley.
The company has pledged its commitment to preserving the fauna and flora of the area and plans to work with organisations to clean up the area through the provision of bins, garbage removal and maintenance. There are also plans to clear the river banks of alien trees such as Black Wattle and Port Jackson. Guides are sourced from the local community, with employment opportunities for between 15 and 30 individuals.
There is no limit to group size and children from the age of three years can take part in this adventure. The office is located at the ‘Natuurtuin’ at the foot of the Wellington Pass and is open every day from 08h00 until 17h00 with tours departing every half hour. The last tour departs at 17h00. The tour is priced at R400pp, including drinks during and after the tour. Booking is recommended and special rates for tour group bookings can be negotiated.
