The Danielsrust Horse Trails traverse some of the last remaining big farms in Gauteng. Situated in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, 40 km northwest of Johannesburg, one can view over 700 head of game-from horseback.
Trails take you through the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve and Danielsrust Reserve. You can visit the spectacular Wonder cave, or join a trip with scrumptious lunches or breakfasts. Overnight facilities are available.
All trails are guided, on well groomed and trained horses. A minimum of two riders are necessary, one per horse. Trails run every day subject to confirmation.
The best-kept secret is a 3000-hectare, of undisturbed highveld Grasslands. Traversing this wild and untouched beauty on foot gives you the rare opportunity of viewing White blesbuck and other mammals. Tranquil surroundings and spectacular views from Spioenkop, one of the highest mountains in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, overlooking the Anglo Boer War battlefields of Dwarsvlei, The Witwatersberge and the Magaliesburg mountain range, leave you feeling overwhelmed and mystified.
After a most interesting day, picnic baskets can be served.
