In a region that is known for its majestic mountains, hot summer sun, age old shady oak trees and icy winters, lies De Compagnie Wine Estate in the historic Val du Charron, the Wamakersvallei.
The Estate of 27 hectares lies snugly hidden in the narrow valley between the cliffs of the Hawekwa Mountains and Groenberg, 5 kilometers outside the picturesque village of Wellington, on the Bovlei-route.
De Compagnie's Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine for the connoisseur. It is an elegant, full-bodied wine with a long lingering aftertaste. Matured in new French oak, this dark ruby coloured wine is rich with the natural, earthy flavours of the noble Cabernet Sauvignon.
They also make a natural 100% double distilled potstill brandy. Harvested from well seasoned 1976 Chenin Blanc-vines, meticulously distilled in an antique copper alembic potstill first used on the farm in 1849 and matured for seven years in French oak. Rich aromas of fresh fig, lemon and herbs with hints of spicy cinnamon can be recognised.
