The current owners bought Devonvale Golf and Wine Estate from the estate of the late Mr. Simeon Blumberg who had the original vision and passion for this versatile parcel of land. In 1999, JJ Provoyeur took over the running of the Devonvale Golf Estate. Times were tough, permission to build houses on the estate was yet to be granted and interest rates were up to 25%. Nobody gave them a chance.
It was against this backdrop that they decided to plant vineyards along certain fairways to live out the fact that their beautiful course was in the heart of the winelands. It was to be a hobby and an attempt to polish their already beautiful estate. At first a subcontractor took care of the vines, but it took very little time before it became abundantly clear that their passion for the land and the vines urged them to jump in themselves.
Today there is hardly a moment's rest between golfing events, conferences, weddings in the club house and lodge. Building works and modifications are constantly on the go to improve the venue and facilities they have made available to over 60 000 visitors a year.
