Drakensberg Kloof is situated on a game farm in a rugged kloof in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains. It lies between Memel and Newcastle and offers unspoilt natural beauty in a secluded, peaceful location.
The farm nestles high in the foothills of Drakensberg mountain range in a spectacular gorge with majestic cliffs reaching to the sky, numerous waterfalls, beautiful indigenous trees, various game species and spectacular vistas.
The dam at the chalet is regularly stocked with trout – and only catch and release is allowed -- except if arranged otherwise. (Fingerlings are reared in a dam at the main farmstead)
Fly-fishing opportunities in the Drakensberg continue to increase rapidly as is happening elsewhere in South Africa. Fly fishing has become so popular in the Drakensberg due to the abundance of excellent trout and bass fishing.
The many crystal clear rivers and dams in the higher reaches are regular favourites with the serious and skilled fly-fishermen as well as the growing number of recently initiated fanatics who embrace this most challenging and personally satisfying of angling pursuits
