Eziko Restaurant in the Langa Township, on Washington Street across from Tiger's Place, is linked to the Eziko Cooking and Catering School. The school was established in 1996 by Victor Mguqulwa.
His mission was to do something about the high unemployment rate in Langa, by teaching them how, they in a sustainable way, can change their situation. Mguqulwa strongly believes in the theory 'do not give people the fish but rather teach them how to fish'.
This all resulted in an organization that provides people with life and career-orientated skills in cooking and catering, to help them find employment so they can provide for themselves and their families.
Students are carefully selected to gain some basic experience in the Eziko Restaurant, which specializes in African traditional food such as a portion of grilled chicken and a portion of lamb stew, both with samp (beans and corn kernels), vegetables and steamed traditional bread.
And of course a jug of home made Ginger beer but you will find a selection of Western dishes as well - whatever you choose, it is all home cooked fresh from the famous Eziko Kitchen!
