The giraffe may have the longest neck of any animal in the world, but did you know that the majestic giraffe has exactly the same number of neck vertebrae as humans do? There are probably a lot more interesting things you could learn about giraffes by visiting the new, privately-owned Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre between Klapmuts and Stellenbosch.
Along with giraffe you’ll have easy access to another long-necked species, the ostrich, as well as eland, crocodiles, birds and buffalo in large environmentally friendly enclosures.
Giraffe House is located on 15ha of land out in the country, offering city dwellers a break from traffic congestion and crowds. Giraffe House offers the family an opportunity to spend affordable quality time together in the fresh Cape air.
Jungle gyms and a giraffe jumping castle are available and a refreshment kiosk and vending machines supply snacks and drinks. Giraffe House is a fun kiddies’ party venue.
Schools and other groups are offered special rates. Picnic baskets are welcome.
Daily animal encounters take place at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.
