Glen Oakes Farm is only 1½ hours drive from Cape Town, situated at the top end of the "Hemel en Aarde" valley between Caledon and Hermanus. This little corner of the Overberg is cradled by the Klein River Mountains and enjoys it's own micro-climate.
The owner has grown up four-wheel driving and offers sound knowledge and experience on the technical side of off-road driving. He is a good teacher by nature, perfectly suited to the beginner driver or those with more experience.
This trail stretches over a distance of 7km and is situated in a little valley or basin at the foot hills of the Klein River mountains. All obstacles are numbered and marked with colour coded poles.
It will take you around 3 - 6 hours to complete, depending on the level of driver experience and the number of vehicles in the group. The difficulty of the trail and the required driver experience is totally flexible and varies a lot between dry and wet conditions.
Experienced drivers will enjoy a challenge, yet there are alternative options for beginners at every obstacle.
The trail starts a short distance from the Stone House and winds it's way down into the valley below. You will be offered some natural obstacles with an good selection of mud, sand, rock, gullies and steep banks. At first you will encounter some fairly easy bumps and dips, after which the terrain becomes more challenging. Several streams are crossed, most having a soft sand or muddy surface.
