Hermanus Whale Cruises has been operating in the Walker Bay area since the first permits for boat based whale watching were granted in 1998. The skippers and guides are all registered Satour guides and are from the local community of Hawston.
Their combined experience enables them to provide the visitor with a vast amount of local information, especially in the area of boat based whale watching. Their knowledge of local weather and sea conditions is considerable.
The "Whale Cruiser" carries up to 87 passengers and passangers can enjoy a snack while viewing the magnificent whales. Cruises depart from the New Harbour and are about 2 hours long. The operating period is from Mid May untill Mid January. The tours depart daily at 07:00, 09:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, weather permitting.
Hermanus Whale Cruises also offer Eco-Tours, a sight-seeing experience where you can interact with dolphins, seals, clawless otters and a variety of sea bird life.
As well as Cultural Tours where you meet the local people and learn more of their history, culture and environment. Fishing villages like Hawston, Kleinmond, Gansbaai, Arniston and Struisbaai are visited, as well as the Moravian Mission Stations of Elim, Genadendal and Zuurbraak.
