La Bourgogne was among the first Huguenot farms proclaimed in 1694, and has a warmth and charm which captivates all who visits. The farm is a working farm producing high quality wine and other farm products.
A fine, traditional style Sémillon wine - Progeny - is produced on the farm. This cultivar used to be synonymous with the Franschhoek valley and is making a comeback. Their 2005 Sémillon was awarded 4 stars in the John Platter Wine guide.
Their 20 year old vines are approaching their optimum years, and they hope to maintain the quality of the product. There are plans to produce both a red and a white blend, whilst their dessert wine is resting in barrels.
La Bourgogne also offers accomodation in the Riverside Cottages. The cottages are comfortable living in a beautiful and tranquil setting, ideal for wonderful summers, family retreat or a cosy, romantic winter weekend away.
Progeny wines are available from La Bourgogne farm, La Cotte Inn, as well as from a number of Franschhoek restaurants.
