Launching can take place at a game ranch a 40 minutes drive east of Pretoria or in the Magalies Mountains near Skeerpoort. Be prepared to rise early and while enjoying coffee with the people of Life Balooning, you can watch the whole balloon being assembled and inflated.
Balloons are not steered, but float gently where the wind takes it.
Ballooning is so much more than just floating on the wind. With an unobstructed 360 degree view, it is excellent for aerial photography and can also be a marketing tool.
Their retrieve crew always follows the balloon on its voyage and the "chase" is often as exciting as the flight itself. Family and friends, who are not flying with you, can follow in your car and meet up with you when you land.
A balloon ride is always celebrated with a champagne toast, a tradition that dates back to the 1700's. Afterwards enjoy a farmers' breakfast or sundowner and snacks.
