McDougalls Bay

McDougalls Bay, situated a mere 7km from the town of Port Nolloth, is a gem on the dry Northern Cape coastline. A safe swimming beach during the summer months, be warned that the sea water temperature seldom rises above 13 - 15 degrees and the cold Atlantic mist is known to hover over the beach for the first part of the day, before the warm summer sun burns off the mist.

The beach is well sheltered and offers an extremely safe swimming area. Lifeguards will be on duty during the peak season. For holiday-makers over the Christmas period, McDougalls Bay will definitely be the place to be. If the water is a bit cold, enjoy a walk along the long stretch of sandy beach. For bird watchers this is a special part of the coast, so bring your binoculars along.

The beach offers braai (barbecue) facilities and has recently been upgraded to provide facilities for the physically disabled. If you are visiting the awesome Northern Cape, make sure you pop into McDougalls Bay for a visit.

Access to the beach is via the road to MacDougalls Bay shortly before one enters the town of Port Nolloth.
