The Quoin Rock winery is situated in Stellenbosch and was established in 1998. Grapes are grown on the slopes of the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch and in the cool climate region of Cape Agulhas.
Quoin Rock also owns and manages a property in the Cape Agulhas region, the southerlymost part of South Africa. The cooler and slightly more humid conditions in Cape Agulhas are due to the strong influence of the ocean, and varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot, which benefit from cooler ripening conditions yield fruit of a unique quality. The fruit is hand picked into small plastic crates and transported in a refrigerated truck to the Quoin Rock winery in Stellenbosch.
Quoin Rock Simonsberg is open for tasting seven days a week from 09h00 to 17h00 including public holidays. We will however be closed for the following days: Christmas Day (25 December), Day of Goodwill (26 December), Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Quoin Rock Cape Agulhas is off the beaten track so it will be better to phone to avoid the disappointment of getting to the farm and there is no one to do the tasting. In season we are open from 11h00 to 16h00 Monday to Friday and 11h00 to 15h00 on Saturday and Sunday (phone for appointment).
