Solms-Delta is much more than a wine estate. Located 15km outside Franschhoek in the heart of the Cape Winelands, the estate produces classical wines with a difference, in fact everything about Solms-Delta is different.
The estate offers a variety of experiences, in addition to its highly acclaimed wines, including picnics all year round in its magical forest, modern Cape cuisine at Fyndraai restaurant, an annual harvest festival, a museum that explores the slave heritage of the area and six special interest guided farm tours that go way beyond the conventional wine tasting experience.
The estate offers three innovative wine ranges, which use varying quantities of desiccated grapes to create wines with different intensities and distinctive styles. In keeping with the estate’s interest in the past, all the wines have names which commemorate historical links.
The Solms Museum van de Caab on the new Solms-Delta wine farm is open seven days a week from 9:00am to 7:00pm. Wine-tasting takes place in the museum or under the oaks outside. The museum, which chronicles the social history of the 315-year old estate, is housed in the original wine cellar dating back to 1740.
