Winburg is one of the Free State towns with a rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as various historical buildings and monuments. The Willem Pretorius Game Reserve is north down the N1 towards Ventersburg.

Winburg was originally chosen as the site for the main Voortrekker Monument, but it was eventually decided on Pretoria and instead a five-tiered secondary Voortrekker monument was built on the outskirts of Winburg in the 1950's. |
