Spirit of Adventure has been operating adventure activities from Shongweni Dam since 1994. We offer abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, nature walks, and cycling safari's. We also run the Howick Falls 107m Abseil.
Spirit of Adventure is operates from both the Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve and the Howick Falls. The Shongweni Dam Game Reserve is a 1700 hectare reserve situated approximately 40km from Durban, home to buffalo, rhino, giraffe, a variety of antelope, and in the region of 200 species of birds. This setting has been used since 1994 to conduct leadership, personal development, team building and adventure events for schools, universities, corporate groups and families. Your group will fall under the professional guidance and supervision of a trained instructor or guide who will make certain that every activity is carried out safely and enjoyably. These activities will take place on land, water and rock faces, the distance, duration and difficulty are an approximation and depend on the age and level of fitness of the group.
Howick is a beautifully quaint town that has the second highest waterfall in South Africa. The 107m Abseil at the Howick Falls is an incredible experience! You are hanging off a rope way above the plunge pool and looking across at the huge waterfall, before you land in the boat at the base, our guide takes you to the edge of the pool where you then walk through the indigenous forest of the Howick Falls Conservancy to get back to the top of the falls. We usually run two abseil lines side-by-side so you can share the experience with friends or family on the way down.

Amazing Experience
I recently visited Spirit of Adventure with my school, Our Lady of Fatima, and found I significantly enjoyed myself! The leaders were friendly and helpful and the tasks they made us do inspired many and left us enjoying every second, whether we were laughing or in tears.
The beauty we saw around us left us astounded and upon leaving most of us even found ourselves shedding a slight tear. On behalf of my school I would like to thank you for such an amazing experience and for treating us with the upmost hospitality.
