Stony Brook is a small family run farm. They have 14 hectares under vines and make a full range of top quality wines. Named after a wonderful old Gum tree on the farm, the new range of limited release wines were identified in the cellar as being of exceptional quality.
2002 saw the first Cabernet Sauvignon released. It was made from the very best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon that had spent 12 months in new French oak. These were then blended with small amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot and put back into the new barriques for a total of thirty months.
They were so delighted with this wine that they decided that the extra time spent in the cellar really had paid dividends and so they have just completed an extra barrel maturation cellar for future wines that will be sold under the “Ghost Gum” label. The 2003 Ghost Gum Cabernet Sauvignon is now available from the farm.
Stone Brook is open for tastings and sales every morning except Sunday. As they do the marketing and deliveries as well as the winemaking themselves, they are not available every afternoon, but they welcome wine-lovers to come and enjoy the view and chat about wine in a relaxed atmosphere.
Tastings are given, either on the veranda, or in a newly-completed tasting area at the front of their home. They pride themselves in making quality wines that reflect the uniqueness of the area.
