Beneath the towering presence of Stellenbosch’s famous Simonsberg and Jonkershoek mountains, where dairy cows use to graze, you’ll find the rolling vineyards of Vrede Wine Farm. Vrede is situated against the eastern slopes of the Bottelary ward.
This is widely regarded as South Africa’s premier wine region and the farm is indeed blessed with excellent wine growing conditions. A mild, Mediterranean climate prevails and during summer, generous sunshine is tempered by cool breezes blowing in from the nearby ocean. The breezes create ideal, slow ripening conditions, allowing the grapes to develop rich varietal character and an intense concentration of flavours.
The name Vrede means Peace or Tranquility.
Today, Vrede Wines has grown to a business, which offers cold storage, wine sales and conferencing as well as a function venue. The vineyards expanded to 52 hectares and the wine portfolio has grown to accommodate 9 wines.
The brand new tasting facility was build, with a wooden deck and a picturesque view over the vineyards and in the distance Table Mountain. They look forward to welcoming guest in this exquisite tasting facility.
