Dick King Statue

On the busy Victoria Embankment is a statue commemorating Dick King (Richard Philip King), who brought reinforcements to Durban during the 1842 siege.


 
Old Fort Durban

Kwazulu Natal, Durban


The Old Fort in Durban was built in 1842 by troops of the 27th regiment. It houses many memorials and features of historical importance.


 
Statue of John Ross

Kwazulu Natal, Durban


Aged just 12, and escorted by 30 Zulu warriors, he set out on a six-month 600-mile trek to the Portuguese settlement of Delagoa Bay to raise the alarm.
